Shirley Ann Kistler

Shirley Ann Kistler passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the age of 96. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 8, 1928. She was the youngest of three children born to Felix and Margaret Brown. Shirley grew up in Richmond Heights, Missouri. After high school graduation she worked for a year to be able to help pay for college. She attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. It’s there that she met her future husband, Robert Kistler. They were married on April 29, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri. They made their home in the suburbs of St. Louis for several years. In early 1957 they moved to Concord, California. Then in 1963 moved to La Habra, California and spent the rest of their lives in that area. Shirley worked for 16 years at Beckman Instruments in Fullerton, California. She retired from Beckman to help babysit her grandchildren. While at Beckman she made some dear friends and their favorite pastime was having afternoon tea at as many different tea houses as they could find. Shirley enjoyed being active in her church, first at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Whittier, California, and then Blessed Sacrament Episcopal Church in Placentia, California. In her last years she worshiped at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Fullerton, California. Shirley is survived by her children Laurie (George) Parrott, David (Lisa) Kistler, Jim (Trudy) Kistler, Mike Kistler and Steve Kistler; grandchildren Jonathan Kistler, Courtney (Robert) Konuch, Katie (Daniel) White, Sarah (Matt) Gilbo, Michaela Estrada, Hannah Kistler and Emma Kistler; and great-grandchildren Matthew Estrada, Luca Konuch, David Gilbo, Eliel Konuch, Liam Gilbo, Luke Estrada, Mia Estrada and Robert Gilbo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Bob on March 21, 2015. Shirley died on what would have been their 75th wedding anniversary. Her life will be celebrated with a requiem mass at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1231 E. Chapman Avenue, Fullerton, California on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM. A reception will be held after the service.
