Pia Valera Bello

Pia Valera Bello was born on February 5, 1959, and grew up in Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Pia studied at the University of the Philippines, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She worked as a social worker at Terrace View Care Center at Fullerton, CA. Pia passed away on November 30, 2019 at the age of 60. Pia fought bravely against cancer, pursuing every available avenue with strength, fortitude and conviction. With resilience, she maintained hope and positivity during her difficult journey. She died peacefully surrounded by her children and loved ones. Pia is survived by her daughters Bon Mendoza, Trina Favis, and Isa Pineda; sons Mao Pineda, Jao Pineda, Lloyd Mendoza and Rico Favis; her grandchildren Melissa Mendoza, Euan Favis, Luke Mendoza and Amaia Favis; her siblings Charito Bello, Heny Bello, Turry Bello, Ina Figueras; and significant other and great love Bob McElroy. Pia loved to travel from the beaches of Thailand to the gondolas of Venice. In every corner of the world she visited, she always made a point to meet up with a dear friend or relative. Pia was the life of the party. She made sure to spend time with her friends and be present in every one’s life events (making sure she’s dressed for the occasion). She truly cherished her friendships. Pia was a supportive sister. She maintained a strong bond with her brothers and sisters despite living in different continents. Most importantly, Pia was a loving mother. She devoted her life to the well-being of her children, and ensured their success in life. She was proud of their accomplishments, and Pia truly loved her children. Pia is finally at peace, leaving a profound and indelible mark on the people she touched during her life. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and everyone who knew her. Funeral services will begin with a wake at Memory Garden Memorial Park and Mortuary on December 9th-11th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Then, a funeral mass will be held at St. Juliana Falconieri Parish on December 12th at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow the mass. Lastly, the burial will be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery on December 14th at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow the burial.
