Joan Gibbons

Joan Gibbons, 85, of Placentia, California, passed away peacefully Friday July 3, 2015 at Agape Cottages group home where she resided. She was born Joan Van Wagner on March 2, 1930 in Morenci, Michigan. She moved to California in the early 40’s. She met her husband, Edward Gibbons and married on 12/10/1951. They resided in La Habra, CA until they retired to Lake Havasu City, AZ in 1993. They were together 51 year before he passed on 3/27/2002. She worked at Reeve Co/Pico Plating as a bookkeeper for 13 years before she retired. She loved to read, watch movies and crafting. She was a talented lady when it came to crafts. She created beautiful cross stitch, Christmas ornaments, and crocheting. She also sewed for the family over several years. She loved cats. While living in Lake Havasu, she loved to drive her little bright yellow VW bug around and telling us that many people knew her because of her car! She is proceeded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and daughter Diane Jamora. She is survived by 5 children; Sue Lancaster, Debbie Wachsman, Colleen Junker, Paul Gibbons, Beth Tripp; her 2 sisters, Betsy and Katie; 8 grandchildren Laura, Chris, Danelle, Nicole, Jennifer, Erinn, Katie, AJ; 7 great-grandchildren Brice, Trent, Logan, Shane, Mark, Irie, Alex. She also has a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held July 18, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Memory Garden Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 455 West Central Ave. Brea CA 92821. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org.
