Esther Edith Lloyd

Biography Raised in Rosedale,Kansas. Graduated from high school and held jobs as a dancer and a cook around Kansas City. After her move to Los Angeles, at age 22, she worked as an accountant. Aunt Esther met Emrys Lloyd when she lived next door to a fire station where he was a firefighter after serving in the army air corps during World War II. He had been a prisoner of war and badly treated. They were married in 1948 when Esther participated in Lloyd's construction business. One son,Johnny, was adopted at 9 months of age and passed away from Cystic Fibrosis at age 12. Uncle Lloyd passed in 1985. Dogs Shorty and Benji were their babies. Esther was known for her cooking talent and enjoyed entertaining fire families and her birthday club. During Johnny's illness, she was very active in fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. After Lloyd's death, travel all over the world became her passion, loved to shop and dine out. People loved her story telling ability. Known for her laugh, outgoing personality and strong will. She was independent and sharp about the world around her. Friends describe her as unique and unforgettable. Her stories will live on for sure.
