Elizabeth Winter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elizabeth Winter (Altevers) passed away August 5, 2021, at the age of 83 from complications from a stroke. Elizabeth had a strong faith that helped turn people she met into friends. She showed genuine caring for people and had a strong love for her family as a guiding light that touched each in a very special way. The cherished Advent Calendars she sent every year were a reminder of the caring she had for her family. Betty was the firstborn in the family of Jack and Grace Altevers of Dayton Ohio. She was the big sister to 4 boys. She graduated from Patterson Co-op High School where she received a general education as well as developing office skills which served her well in her future careers. She joined the Navy where she was an electronic technician. Later receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in finance while working for a large company and later became CFO for that company. In her youth, she sang with her father in the church which enriched her love of music. When her brothers were in their teens, the family traveled around the United States. Betty enjoyed working on quilting and needlework projects. By her own admission, she could never pass up a craft kit. She also enjoyed bible studies with friends at a local church. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, stepmother, and grandmother as well as aunt and great aunt. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her brother John. She is survived by her husband Steve Winter, step-son Scott Winter and his wife Meghan as well as the grandchildren she adored, Nixon and Alice. Her brothers Michael Altevers and his wife Betty May, Dave Altevers, Don Altevers, and his wife Barbara and sister-in-law Betty Ann Altevers. Many of her family members were with her at the time of her death. Services are pending.
