Doris Marie Fowler
May 17, 1928 - February 6, 2013
Fowler, Doris M. Anglin, a longtime resident of Orange County, California, passed away February 6, at the age of 84. Doris Marie Anglin was born May 17, 1928 in Buena Park, California, daughter of Nolan and Jessie Anglin, and younger sister to Virgil Anglin and Percy “Pete” Anglin. Growing up with two older brothers made Doris a very strong athlete and while attending Fullerton High School she earned Varsity letters in several sports, earning her brothers’ respect and endless bragging rights. She attended Fullerton College, where she met her future husband, Ralph Clifton Fowler. After winning approval from her protective brothers, Cliff and Doris were married December 1, 1950. They had two sons, Steven Fowler and Daniel Fowler, who both attended Fullerton High School and were graduates of Fullerton College, like their mother. Following Cliff’s early passing in 1968, Doris went back to work full-time as an Executive Secretary. She worked for homebuilders William Lyon Homes, Presley Cos., and Fredericks Development Corp., always earning great praise from her employers. She was an amazing, multi-tasking woman and definitely ahead of her time -- while working full-time as a single mother she still made sure dinner was cooked, her house was in order and the family came first. Doris had so many talents: she was a skilled baker, an enthusiastic piano player and a lifelong seamstress, including knitting, crocheting and costume creation. (Her grandchildren’s annual Halloween costumes were testimony of her outstanding skills!) Her garden was meticulously manicured and in beautiful bloom throughout the year. Doris was an avid reader, gifted crafter and enjoyed watching the Lakers, Angels and old Westerns. She never missed a grandchild’s sports game, performance or school event, and loved spending time with all her family and friends. Doris led her life true to her Christian faith and in the last few months had told her family she was ready to go to God and be reunited with her family. We will all miss her, but she will be in our hearts and memories forever, and her recipes will be passed on for many generations. As Doris, an aficionado of old fables and nursery rhymes, would so often say: "Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity-Jog.” Doris is survived by her son Steve and daughter-in-law Elle; brother Pete; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in passing by her parents; brother Virgil; husband Cliff; and son Dan. A memorial service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10:00 am at Memory Garden Memorial Park & Mortuary 455 W. Central Brea, CA 92821. She will be buried at Loma Vista Memorial Park 701 E. Bastanchury Rd. Fullerton, CA 92835.
