Author: Nancy Spiker --- Janice Fennel March 22, 1951 – October 28, 2020 Janice Lea Fennel, 69, of Anaheim, CA entered the Church Triumphant on October 28, 2020 after a long illness. Janice is preceded in death by her late husband Donald David Fennel and by her parents Rufus W. O’Hara and mother Lola Mae (Gatton/O’Hara). She is survived by her sister Peggy Plews and twin sister Nancy Spiker (Bob). Janice was the devoted mother of David Weems (Tanya) and stepmother of Lori Jagger (John), Toni Kanipe (Mark) and Tom Fennel. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Janice was born in Bartow, FL. After a short time, her family moved to Maryland where Janice lived her youthful years. She graduated from Glen Burnie High School and afterwards worked at Westinghouse in security systems. In 1974, Janice moved with her husband and son to California where she worked at Boeing/Rockwell International again specializing in security. Later, Janice was married to Donald Fennel on September 6, 1987; they were married for 25 years until his death in 2012. Previously she was married to Robert Stanley Weems. Janice loved being with her family (especially granddaughters Emily and Sara) when they celebrated birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. For years Christmastime was her favorite holiday. She totally enjoyed decorating inside her home for the holidays – and she had lots of beautiful decorations to display. With her late husband Don, who was the love of her life, Janice loved traveling and driving to the desert to fly model airplanes. Janice also delighted in taking care of small animals and birds outside her home. For many years, numerous hummingbirds were fed a red sugary liquid and then afterwards, they rested on a hanger outside her kitchen window. Each visit was always a simple yet breathtaking scene. Inside Jan’s home, her white cat named Keke was pretty lucky to be on the receiving end of Janice’s kindness too. In the last couple of years, Jan’s biggest pleasure was talking regularly with her family on the phone or with a few of her neighbors. It was a blessing that Jan’s nephew Michael Plews moved to CA years ago and lived with Janice and Don. After Don’s passing, Michael and Jan continued to enjoy watching TV together, reminiscing about family and good times as well as eating home-cooked meals. Janice had a big heart and was always known to stop and make pleasant remarks to strangers. A memorial service will be held at Memory Garden Memorial Park & Mortuary, 455 West Central Avenue, Brea CA on Saturday, November 21, 2020 beginning at 10 AM. Janice is laid to rest beside her late husband Donald. Pastor Ron Case will be officiating. A private family gathering will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Janice’s memory to the American Heart Association. Memory Garden Memorial
