Elinor S. Wilson

Elinor Mary Staley Wilson passed on from this life in the early hours of August 5th, 2023 at the age of 99. Elinor was predeceased by her father and mother, Albert G. Staley and Anna Mary Staley; her siblings Bea Fisher, Albert Staley Jr., Donald Staley, and Joan Hund; as well as her daughter April Lynn Wilson. Elinor is survived by her two sons Fr. Arsenius Anachoreta and David A. Wilson. She is lovingly remembered by her living siblings Roger Staley and Ann (Anna Mary) Carroll Ocenosak; as well as her daughter-in-law Dru Wilson and her grandchildren JohnPaul Wilson and Blake Wilson. Elinor Wilson was born on October 12, 1923, in Eden, New York. She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1940. She had previously worked as an accountant for Ford Motor Company, a photograph editor, and a shop clerk. Elinor moved from Hamburg, New York with her husband to Whitter, California in the 40’s. She had recently been making therapy bears for VITAS Memory Bears. Elinor played a main role in the raising of her three children at which she thrived. She was an avid member of the local church going community having previously been a member at St. Joseph’s, Sunlight, and Calvery Chapel. She loved spending time doing arts and crafts and making such items as cards, personalized shirts, and jewelry. She was an amazing cook and loved to try new recipes. She helped to raise her grandchildren in their early life, teaching them life lessons, helping them to make teepees in the backyard, and helping them through their education. She had a love of plants and animals that were seen through the several nests and hummingbirds that would come and spend time in her yard. She will be remembered for her ability to instantly become a mother to all, a valuable listener, a crafty lady, and a devout follower of God. A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 13935 Telegraph Road, Whittier, CA 90604 on August 17th, 2023 at 11am. A closed casket viewing & story sharing will be held at Memory Garden Memorial Park & Mortuary, 455 W. Central Ave., Brea, California on August 17th, 2023 at 4:00 pm. Elinor’s funeral service will be held at Memory Garden Memorial Park & Mortuary, 455 W. Central Ave., Brea, California on August 18th, 2023 at 9:30 am. The reception will be held by her son, David Wilson, after the service at 531 South Poplar Ave., Brea California. Obituary for Elinor M.
