Donald "Don" Ashcraft

William Donald “Don” Ashcraft passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 11, 2025, at the age of 92, with his beloved wife, Joan, sleeping by his side. Born on December 9, 1932 in Florence, South Carolina, Don became a gifted electrical engineer with a precocious interest in electronics. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania before moving to California in 1957 to work for Rockwell International. Don married his first wife, Louise Frisius, in 1964, and together they raised three daughters, Cindy, Susan, and Marji. After Louise’s death in 1999, Don married his second wife Joan - a former missionary like his first wife - in 2007. Don and Joan shared times of travel, fun, and companionship, as well as continuing to serve the Lord together. In his final years, Joan was Don’s devoted caregiver as he battled Alzheimer’s and pulmonary fibrosis. Don cherished Joan as the light of his life, and he deeply appreciated her love and care. Don is survived by his wife Joan, his three daughters, his two sons-in-law, and his four grandchildren. A man of deep faith, Don was a member of the First Evangelical Free (EV Free) Church in Fullerton for over 45 years, serving as a deacon and teaching a popular parenting course. He was a loving and generous patriarch who delighted in spending time with his family. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the chapel at Memory Garden, 455 W. Central Ave. in Brea with a reception to follow.
